RYM Weekly Update 5.22.17

SNL RECAP

This past Sunday we had our last SNL of the school year. See pics from the photo booth pictured here. We revealed the ICE COLD blue team as the winner of our year-long competition. Our summer interns, Justin and Lindsey, shared their testimonies as well. We discussed the transformation of death to life in Jesus. Ask your kids what stuck out from Justin and Lindsey's testimonies!

SUNDAY LUNCH WITH LINDSEY AND JUSTIN

We are still in need of people to sign up to eat Sunday lunch with our summer interns. Use this Sign-Up Genius link to sign up to take one of them to lunch with your family after church one Sunday. You can choose if you want to take them to a restaurant or have them over to your home. If you have both a male and female in the youth group, feel free to sign up to have lunch with both of them at the same time, or just choose one. Go ahead and sign up and put it on your calendar!

UPCOMING EVENTS

5.25- Grasshoppers Game, THIS Thursday at 7pm.
If it rains, we're playing board games at the Hills.

After living in GSO for 7 years, I've actually never been to a Hoppers game, and neither have Justin or Lindsey, so we're going to our first game this Thursday! We'd love for any youth and/or families to join us. We're planning to get there around 6:30 and sit on the lawn by the playground. We're planning to buy lawn tix at the gate for $7. If your kids want to go and can get their homework done between 4-6, we can pick them up and bring them to them game with us, just let us know. We can also help give rides home afterwards. Kids don't need to stay for the whole game if you just want to drop them off from 6:30-8 and pick them up early so they're not out so late on a school night.

*RAIN PLAN: If it rains, we're going to play board games in the Hills basement from 6:30-8.

5.27- Youth Work Day, THIS Saturday 10-2pm

For his Eagle Scout project, Canain Stanley is building an outdoor chapel at New Garden Park, our new church location. I know it's Memorial Day weekend, but if anyone is around and can help out, folks will be working from 10-2pm and lunch is provided. Bring work gloves and wear closed-toed shoes and clothes that can get dirty. If anyone has drills or post-hole diggers, please bring those as well.

5.28- NO youth activities because of Memorial Day Weekend

6.4- Rising 6th Graders Youth & Parents Meeting

Immediately following the church service on Sunday, June 4th the rising 6th graders and parents will meet with Drew, Lindsey and Justin from 11:40-12:10 for a brief snapshot overview of the youth ministry and summer activities.

6.11- Sunday Afternoon "RYM Summer Kickoff Event"

6.14- Wednesday Morning Prayer Begins (10-11:30)

Each Wednesday morning this summer middle and high schoolers will gather at New Garden Park for a time of prayer and studying scripture. We typically will follow this time with lunch and a fun youth activity.

6.14-6.16- High School Camping Trips
We're excited to start a new RYM tradition this summer with 2 different camping trips for the high school guys and gals (rising 9th-graduated seniors), both June 14-16, Wednesday morning-Friday night. We'll leave after Morning Prayer on June 14th. The cost is only $45!

Spots are limited. Sign up this week using the links below. This is also a great trip to invite friends who are not connected to Redeemer.

The Man Trip
The guys will be heading to Pisgah National Forest near Brevard, NC. We'll be jumping off cliffs, riding down waterfalls, climbing mountains, eating like kings, growing chest hair, and using the bathroom in the woods. A great time to get away from screens and hear from the Lord.

The Wo-Man Trip aka "The Glamping Trip"
The ladies, led by Melissa Lewkowicz and Eloise Porter, will be staying indoors in the Montreat area and experiencing a mixture of both glamour and camping, aka "glamping."
