RYM Weekly Update 5.17.17

ConGRADS to Graham and Valerie

Two of our amazing small group leaders graduated from college last weekend! Although he's graduated, thankfully Graham Monroe is sticking around GSO and will continue volunteering with our middle and high schoolers. Valergie Sagero is sadly leaving us, but for an exciting reason! She's moving to Atlanta after Camp Booyah to help with a church plant called "Image Church" and hopes to help work towards racial reconciliation and to assist with the massive refugee population in the city.

5.21- Sunday DRIVE & THE Q

We have DRIVE (high school) & THE Q (middle school) every 1st, 3rd, and 5th Sunday. We do it on the odd weeks so our youth will have a chance to serve and be in the full service on the 2nd and 4th Sundays.

5.21- End of Year SNL Celebration, Sunday 6-8pm

This will be our last SNL of the school year before we kick off our summer programming on June 11th! Most of our summer events will be on Wednesdays, but we'll begin with a Sunday afternoon extravaganza.

We have a lot of fun things planned for this final SNL on Sunday night. Kids will get to hear our summer interns, Justin McWilliams and Lindsey Horton share their testimonies. We're announcing our winning team from the year-long competition and giving away the grand prize to the winners. Who will it be? The RED HOTS or the ICE COLDS?! We'll be grilling out burgers, hot dogs and turkey dogs. It would be awesome if a few parents would be willing to make some brownies or cookies or other desserts to send! The party will go on rain or shine!

5.25- Grasshoppers Game, Thursday at 7pm

We know it's a school night, but it's perfect baseball weather, so homework can wait, right?! After living in GSO for 7 years, I've actually never been to a Hoppers game, and neither have Justin or Lindsey, so we're going to our first game next Thursday! We would love for any youth or families to join us. We're planning to get there around 6:30 and sit on the lawn. We're planning to buy tix at the gate for $7. If your kids want to go and can get their homework done between 4-6, we can pick them up and bring them to them game with us, just let us know. We can also help give rides home afterwards. Kids don't need to stay for the whole game if you just want to drop them off from 6:30-8 and pick them up early so they're not out so late on a school night.

5.27- Youth Work Day, Saturday 10-2pm

For his Eagle Scout project, Canain Stanley is building an outdoor chapel at New Garden Park, our new church location. I know it's Memorial Day weekend, but if anyone is around and can help out, folks will be working from 10-2pm and lunch is provided. Bring work gloves and wear closed-toed shoes and clothes that can get dirty. If anyone has drills or post-hole diggers, please bring those as well.

5.28- NO SNL bc of Memorial Day Weekend

6.11- Sunday Afternoon "RYM Summer Kickoff Event"

6.14- Wednesday Morning Prayer Begins (10-11:30)

Each Wednesday morning this summer middle and high schoolers will gather at New Garden Park for a time of prayer and studying scripture. We typically will follow this time with lunch and a fun youth activity.

6.14- High School Camping Trips

We're excited to start a new RYM tradition this summer with 2 different camping trips for the high school guys and gals (rising 10th-graduated seniors), both June 14-16, Wednesday morning-Friday night. We'll leave after Morning Prayer on June 14th. The cost is only $45!

Spots are limited. Sign up this week using the links below. This is also a great trip to invite friends who are not connected to Redeemer.

The Man Trip
The guys will be heading to Pisgah National Forest near Brevard, NC. We'll be jumping off cliffs, riding down waterfalls, climbing mountains, eating like kings, growing chest hair, and using the bathroom in the woods. A great time to get away from screens and hear from the Lord.

The Wo-Man Trip aka "The Glamping Trip"
The ladies, led my Melissa Lewkowicz and Eloise Porter, will be staying indoors in the Montreat area and experiencing a mixture of both glamour and camping, aka "glamping."
