We had a great time at the Wests house for the youth family cookout on Friday night. We missed those of you who couldn't make it but plan to do another one on Wednesday, May 27th for our last WAHO of the school year.
We discussed the following:
- Fundraising opportunities for camp
- Parents invited to join us for all summer activities, including the last 24 hours of camp.
- Father/Son camping trip this summer- still trying to determine dates but Aug 14 weekend is a possibility.
- Mom/Daughter Summer Bible Study starting soon.
- In the fall we will move to splitting middle and high schoolers
- Middle School will still meet for WAHO on Wednesdays and be led by volunteer parents and high school upperclassmen.
- High School will meet on Sunday afternoons or evenings, YTD.
- On Sunday mornings, 180 will be Middle School only and we will create an additional discipleship environment for 9th-12th grade.
180
On Sunday in 180 we looked at 1 Corinthians 15 and put the resurrection of Jesus on trial. From looking at the evidence we asked the question, 'Is it harder to believe that Jesus rose from the dead or that he didn't.' It'd be great for you to follow up on that discussion with your kids.
WAHO
We do not have WAHO this Wednesday but next Wed, April 29th, we will have our monthly service project and help the Dalporto family move.
Social Media Seminar This Saturday
I'm likely going to attend this 'Growing Up Social' seminar on Saturday from 9-12 and wanted to invite any of you who are able to come with me. It is designed for parents of children of all ages in this age of social media and addictions to screens. It's presented by my former pastor and friend, Gary Chapman, who wrote 'The 5 Love Languages.' Gary is an incredible communicator and I respect him a ton. I'm sure it will be a great investment of time and $. It's $25 to register but that covers both parents if a couple comes together. They also have free childcare under 5th grade.
If there are other folks who want to join me, we could meet at Western High school at 8am on Saturday and carpool and return there at 1pm. Email me if you're interested in going.
