RYM Weekly Update 4.4.15

Parents,

We had a blast on Sunday night on our SNL Field Trip to play frisbee golf at UNCG. I accidentally hit a college kid in the head with a frisbee that I threw off the top of the parking deck, but he didn't want to fight me or need to go to the hospital, so all ended well. We ended the night celebrating with gelato at Coffeeology. -Drew

Big Tip WAHO
We have WAHO tomorrow, April 6th (4:30-6pm). Natalie told me last week that the same Papa Johns guy has been delivering our WAHO pizza on Wednesdays for over a year. He told her how fun it was for him to watch our kids grow up. :)

I had an idea that it would be awesome to bless him with a HUGE tip one week. Would you consider sending $10 (instead of the normal $5) with your child tomorrow so we could surprise him with a big tip? No pressure, just an idea. I'll talk to the kids about it tomorrow and maybe once we've collected an extra $100 we'll give it to him at the end of the semester.

Summer Intern: Austin Drake
We are pumped to have Austin Drake joining us as our first ever RYM Summer Intern! Many of you have already met Austin, as he volunteered as one of our leaders at Camp Booyah last summer. You may also know his parents, Dodd and Becky, as Dodd is new on staff at Redeemer as well. They recently moved to Greensboro from Hickory and have another teenage son, Brennan. Austin is a sophomore at Berry College in Rome, GA and will be starting his internship with the youth May 15th.

SPRING FLING: 4.17
On Sunday, April 17th, from 3pm-6:30pm our middle and high schoolers are getting together with all the other churches from Camp Booyah for an afternoon of fun and field games at Barber Park (1500 Dans Rd. Greensboro). Cost is $10 (covers drinks, dinner, shelter rental and field game supplies.)  We're asking parents to send a snack food or dessert to share. In case of inclement weather, we'll reschedule. Parents are welcomed to come and watch (with your teenager's permission.)

FAMILY MINISTRY LUNCHEON: 4.24
The Family Ministry Team is hosting a catered luncheon immediately after the service on April 24th for all parents of children (birth through the 12th grade.) We'd like to share with you some exciting summer plans before we all scatter and explain a little about our overall philosophy with children and youth at COTR. We'll provide barbecue, corn, beans, salad, and rolls for you and your children. We also have supervision for the older kids in the gym, and will have you out by 12:45 pm.

Please RSVP here, so we know how much food to order.

MAY 1st SUNDAY
On Sunday, May 1st we'll be honoring our graduating high school and college seniors. If you have a graduating senior, please let me know. There will be a church wide pot-luck lunch following the service.

CAMP BOOYAH: July 10-14
Over half of our Camp Booyah spots are already filled up! Don't forget to save your spot by turning in a deposit check for $150 written to "Church of the Redeemer" with "Camp Booyah" and your camper's name in the memo. You can put these checks in the offering plate, which is a safer way of them not getting lost if you hand them to me. Also, let me know if you're interested in coming with us as an adult leader. More details at CampBooyah.com.

Kinsey McLeod

As many of you know, one of our high school small group leaders moved to Florida last week to work with Youth With A Mission (YWAM.) If you'd like to read more about Kinsey's adventures, here's an update from her.
