RYM Weekly Update 3.21.16

Last week at WAHO Graham Monroe spoke. He had all the middle schoolers repeat the same phrase throughout his talk: "When there is a 'no' in life, God has a better 'yes' to come."

On Friday night our family was excited to cash in a gift card at PF Changs. We arrived at 5:15 to find a 2.5 hour wait. Honey and Hutch were super disappointed. We went next door to Bravo to see how long their wait would be and ended up being seated almost immediately. The kids weren't excited about plan B.  After discovering they brought you bread dough to play with, and that you could make your own pizza, things started to turn around. At the end of a fun meal, Honey turned to me and said, "Daddy, it's just like what Graham said at WAHO. PF Changs was a 'no' but God had a better 'yes' for us at Bravo.

It was an encouraging reminder that little ears might not seem like they're paying attention, but something is sinking in! Praying for you and your kids during this Holy Week.

24-7 Greensboro is a local group that organizes week-long, non-stop, multi-sensory prayer events. The result is a place of respite from the loud rush of the world, a place to engage with the Divine, and space to begin to hear again.  This week 24-7 Greensboro is holding a prayer week focused around the theme of mercy. The event is located at 601 N. Greene Street. You can sign up for a prayer slot or go to the prayer room during open hours 6-9 pm.  More information can be found here.

SPRING FLING: 4.17
On Sunday, April 17th, from 3-6:30pm our middle and high schoolers are getting together with all the other churches from Camp Booyah for an afternoon of fun and field games at Barber Park (1500 Dans Rd. Greensboro). Cost is $10 (covers drinks, dinner, shelter rental and field game supplies.)  We're asking parents to send a snack food or dessert to share. In case of inclement weather, we'll reschedule. Parents are welcomed to come and watch (with your teenager's permission.)

FAMILY MINISTRY LUNCHEON: 4.24
The Family Ministry Team is hosting a catered luncheon immediately after the service on April 24th for all parents of children (birth through the 12th grade.) We'd like to share with you some exciting summer plans before we all scatter and explain a little about our overall philosophy with children and youth at COTR. We'll provide barbecue, corn, beans, salad, and rolls for you and your children. We also have supervision for the older kids in the gym, and will have you out by 12:45 pm.

MAY 1st SUNDAY
On Sunday, May 1st we will be honoring our graduating high school and college seniors. If you have a graduating senior, please let me know. There will be a church wide pot-luck lunch following the service.

CAMP BOOYAH: July 10-14
Camp Booyah spots are filling up fast! Don't forget to save your spot by turning in a deposit check for $150 written to "Church of the Redeemer" with "Camp Booyah" and your camper's name in the memo. You can put these checks in the offering plate, which is a safer way of them not getting lost if you hand them to me. Also, let me know if you're interested in coming with us as an adult leader. More details at CampBooyah.com.
