RYM NEWS!

Parents,

We've had an INCREDIBLE summer with your kids! We had 35 different youth events in 70 days! WHEW! Special thanks to Justin, Lindsey, Melissa, and all the youth leaders and parents that have helped with everything. The Lord has been so gracious to us!

At this point in the summer, we traditionally have a few slower weeks before the school season cranks back up.

We had our last morning prayer this past Wednesday before we hiked Hanging Rock. We will not have any offical Wednesday or Sunday evening activities until after Labor Day.

You can watch a 1 min video of the Hanging Rock trip here.

Over the next 3 Sundays, following the service, I will be teaching "The Tech-Wise Family" class. The last chance to sign up is today. Sign up here. Only parents are invited on Aug 13 and 20, but kids can join us on Aug 27th.

We will start DRIVE/THE Q and SNL all back on Sept. 10th and will be working until then on getting the youth rooms ready in the modulars.

NEW SUNDAY SCHEDULE
  • Starting Sept 10th, we will move to 2 services.
  • We will have DRIVE/THE Q every week, no longer just 1st, 3rd, and 5th Sundays.
  • We will still have SNL every Sunday night from 6-8pm at New Garden Park.

There is a difference in DRIVE/THE Q and SNL. Probably most easily explained using the head and the heart- although both are engaged in each environment.

Head

On Sunday mornings, we focus on catechesis and training the youth in understanding what we believe. In The Q, with middle schoolers, we go through the story of the Bible using The Gospel Project curriculum. In DRIVE, with high schoolers, we go through The Lord's Prayer, The 10 Commandments, and The Apostles' Creed, talking more about theology. These are classes that involved more teaching than discussions.

Heart

On Sunday nights, we focus more on the practical application of what it looks like to follow Jesus. We have a time of worship, games, and small groups. We design Sunday nights with your kids' friends in mind, with hopes they would feel confident inviting their unchurched friends to join in on the discussions. These nights are more of a time to ask questions and go into deeper discussion together.

Sunday Mornings

8:30am-10am || Full service with childcare for nursery and toddlers

10am-11am ||  Fellowship & Refreshments for adults with:
      • optional childcare for nursery and toddlers
      • KidZone for K-3rd grade
      • Rt.45 for 4th/5th graders
      • The Q for Middle School
      • DRIVE for High School

11am-12:30pm ||  Full service (exact same service as 8:30am) with
    • childcare for nursery and toddlers
    • Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Level 1 for K-1st graders
    • Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Level 2 for for 2-3rd graders

So, starting Sept. 10th, you have 2 options:

1. You could come with your family at 8:30am and all be in the service together. After the service, the youth go to DRIVE/THE Q from 10a-11a while parents enjoy fellowship time in the Greenhouse. Then your family could leave at 11am and/or, once/month, serve in nursery or Catechesis of the Good Shepherd with the younger children during the 11am service. We will need all hands on deck in order to move to 2 services!

2. You could arrive at 10am for the youth to go to DRIVE/THE Q while parents enjoy fellowship time in the Greenhouse, and then go together as a family to the 11am service. If you did this option, once/month you could also come at 8:30am to serve in the nursery or with toddlers. We will need all hands on deck in order to move to 2 services!

Please email me if you have any questions about the schedule!

Finally, here are some more details regarding Camp Booyah.

Praying for you and your kids as you prepare for the fall!

Grace and Peace,
Drew
