RYM Summer Event Details
Monday Morning Prayer
Our hope is that this rhythm of starting our weeks with
morning prayer will help the high schoolers develop a habit of paying attention
to God. We know some high schoolers will be working and others will be sleeping
and that there’s no perfect time, but we’re planning to meet from 10:30am-noon
at the Hill House for morning prayer each Monday this summer, starting June 13-
Aug 22, with the exception of July 4th. After morning prayer, if
kids are able, we’ll go out to eat lunch together.
Tuesday Zoomba Chats
We’re pumped to have Melissa Lewkowicz and Faith Howell
leading TZC on selected Tuesday afternoons at 3pm. We’re still working on a
location, but TZC is open to all 6th-12th grade gals. It
will be a combo of Zoomba class and chatting about what God’s Word says about
body image and other female related topics. (June 28, July 26, Aug 2, Aug 9)
Summer Wednesdays
As you see on the calendar, we’ve planned a different youth
activity for each Wednesday this summer.
We’ve planned some in the evenings and some in the daytime to try and
allow folks with different schedules to at least be able to attend some of the
events. All of these Summer Wednesdays are designed to be community building
and super fun, so your kids can feel confident inviting their friends.
Some of the Summer Wednesday events have more details that
need to be communicated and those are listed below.
June 22: City Lake
Park Waterslides 10-2pm
Meet at the Hill’s House at 10am to ride to City Lake Park
or ride with your family and meet us there. Cost is $5/person. Feel free to
pack a lunch or bring $ to buy lunch there. We need a few parents to drive so
let me know if you're able to come along. The children’s ministry is also
spending the morning at City Lake park, so feel free to bring your whole
family. The youth will be at the pool and waterslides from 11-1:30 and will
return back to my house around 2pm. Bring sunscreen! In case of bad weather,
we’ll reschedule.
July 6: Bur-Mil
Picnic & Scavenger Hunt 10-1
This event is open to the whole family. Younger kids can
play on the playground while the middle and high schoolers compete in a
scavenger hunt around the park and some beach vollyeball at Bur-Mil. Bring a
bag lunch.
July 27, Hanging Rock
Day
On Wednesday, July 27th, we'll be spending the day exploring
Hanging Rock State Park. We'll meet at Western High School at 10am and return
by 5pm. Bring a bag lunch. I'll need parents to go with me to help chaperone
and drive so let me know if you can come along! This is an event for the whole
family. We’ll be hiking, swimming and exploring.
Aug 17 Barber Park
Bash, 3-7pm
Disc golf, spray ground, cookout, bring the whole family,
we’ll cookout and eat together at 6pm.
