Parents,
We will start having the youth prayer room next Sunday. I spoke with the kids last night at WAHO and ask them to talk with you about helping create a prayer station.
If you're family is able, could you choose one prayer station idea and provide all the supplies for that station. You can look on Pinterest for 'prayer room ideas' and there are also suggestions below. Once you decide on a station that you would like to coordinate, please email me and let me know so we don't have 2 folks do the same idea.
I would love for folks to bring their supplies for this to the Ash Wed service so we can collect them and have it organized to set up on Sunday, Feb 22nd.
It would be helpful if a few folks could sign up to come at 8:45am on Feb 22nd to help set up the room.

Prayer Station Ideas
- "Praying in color": Put up a long strip of butcher's paper where kids can write down the names of themselves or others they need prayer for, and people can "pray in color" (looks like doodling) around those names. Need: *butchers paper, *tape/tacks, *markers
- Stones: opportunity to "release" or "let go" of burdens/things we obsess over (ie: what people think of us/what we're wearing etc.) Need: *stones, *basket or bowl
- Praying for our schools: Need a map of all the middle and high schools in Greensboro
- Sand/"Buddha Board": confessional, where kids can write down things they need to confess and wipe them away Need: sand, *bowl, *chopsticks, *Buddha Board and its supplies
- Mirror: place to look at the self, reflect, and write positive messages back Need: large mirror, dry erase markers
- "Truth Cards": positive messages about self-worth/value that can taken with a person from the room. These can be printed off-line. Also, can have note-cards nearby for kids to write positive messages to each other that they can leave for someone else to take with them. Would need: note-cards, *markers
- Scrabble pieces (as pictured below)
- "Check-in" station at the door where kids remove shoes, leave cell-phones, and reflect on their week to prepare their hearts to pray. Maybe having a bead or stone there that kids can hold as they reflect and take with them to remind them to pay attention throughout the week or a certain spiritual discipline (confession, gratitude, etc). Need: baskets, beads/small stones
- Other Needs:
- lamps for lighting
- Christmas lights
- extension chords
- large pillows
