Redeemer Youth Ministry Overview

At Redeemer, we want to follow Jesus as a worshipping, missional community of faith. Our youth ministry seeks to do that by coming alongside of families and providing opportunities for teenagers to worship, serve, share the Gospel, and live in community.

180° (1st, 3rd, 5th Sundays of the month)

180 is our Sunday morning discipleship environment for 6th-10th grade. We meet every other week on Sunday mornings during the middle part of the service. Youth are dismissed after the opening worship songs and come back into the service during the passing of the peace to be able to take communion with their families. Focus: Worship & Community

Sunday Serving Teams (2nd or 4th Sunday of the month)FullSizeRender

180 meets every other Sunday morning for two main reasons. One is to allow kids to have one Sunday a month (2nd or 4th Sunday of the month) to listen to the sermon with their families, learning how to listen to God’s Word and apply it to their lives. We want them to connect to the church body as a whole, not just the youth group. Another reason we do every other Sunday is to give them one Sunday a month to serve, typically the 2nd or 4th Sunday. If your child is not yet on the serving schedule, and would like to be, please let Jessie Meriwether know. (Jessie@RedeemerGSO.org). Youth serve as readers, ushers, host team, PowerPoint slides, or in children’s ministry Focus: Mission

Second Sundays (2nd Sunday of the month)

IMG_2315During hospitality on the 2nd Sunday of each month, we have potluck lunch together. Our 2nd Sundays are geared towards visitors and are great days for you to invite friends to church.Youth are either in the service for the sermon or serving during this week.

Sunday Funday (4th Sunday of the month)

During hospitality on the 4th Sunday of the month we have organized games and activities for kids, youth, and parents in the gyms at Western. This is a time to help new folks get connected and for the church family to build community. It’s also a perfect time to show off your kick-ball skills.

WA-HO (Wednesday Afternoon Hang Out)IMG_2975

Every other Wednesday afternoon we pick youth up from school. It’s a great time to invite friends who aren’t connected to a church. Typically one Wed/month is games, music, and small group Bible Study at Drew’s house (1210 Alderman Dr.) and one Wednesday is spent doing a community service project. We rotate between visiting residents at Spring Arbor Assisted Living Center and working with Carolina Cross Connection to do home improvement projects for local needy families. I (Drew) usually talk to parents on Tuesdays and find out who needs rides from school. Pickup is from 3-4:30 and we meet from 4:30-6 to be done in time for Adult Community Groups.  Check out this video from our summer mission trip with Carolina Cross Connection. Focus: Community/Mission

Young Life

Redeemer partners with YL as our outreach ministry for high schoolers. Monday night clubs are for high schoolers at any school to bring their unchurched friends. Drew is specifically connected with Northwest High School and Tripp Graziano volunteers at Western. Focus: Mission
