Redeemer Youth Ministry Update: 8.28.15

Parents,

I hope the first week of school (for most of you) has gone great! We're excited to launch our new Redeemer Youth Ministry (RYM) environments in the next couple of weeks and have new logos, new youth leaders, and lots of exciting new things planned for your kiddos. Lots of info about the fall below.

Work Day

Thanks to everyone who came out at the last minute and helped surprise the Hawkins with yard work last Sunday afternoon. I think I got poison ivy, but other than that, it was a big success as you can see from the picture. Special thanks to Logan Porter for providing pine needles!

This Sunday Night:

SNL Planning Time

All high schoolers are invited to our home, 1210 Alderman Dr, this Sunday night from 7-8:30pm for an SNL planning time. We want them to have a voice in shaping what this high school only time will look like on Sundays this fall, starting September 13th.

This Wednesday Afternoon:
1st WAHO

Our first WAHO is this coming Wednesday for all 6th-8th graders. We will meet at our house 4:30-6pm and will have pizza. Please send $5 with your kids if you're able to help offset the cost. Also, please encourage your kids to bring friends. We're still figuring out the after school pickup situation for this year so please email me if it would help you to have your child (and friends) picked up from school.

Last 180 This Sunday

We have our last ever 180 this Sunday. The youth will be in the service next Sunday on Labor Day

weekend and we will launch 'The Q' for middle schoolers and 'Drive' for highschoolers on Sept. 13th. For both of these new environments you will be able to access an overview of what we're discussion each 1st, 3rd, and 5th Sunday, along with optional homework for your kids on Redeemer-Youth.com

Serving Teams

If your teenager is not yet on a serving team on Sunday mornings, encourage them to sign up by emailing Jessie Meriwether. There are lots of opportunities to serve:

  • Welcome Team: Arriving early to greet and welcome guests.
  • Hospitality Team: Helping with after service food setup and clean up.
  • Take Down Team: Striking the pipes and drapes, loading equipment on trailer, etc.
  • Children's Ministry: Volunteer with our younger children.
  • And others...

Student Leadership Team

One additional way your child can serve is by applying for our brand new Student Leadership Team (SLT). We will select 3-6 middle schoolers and 3-6 high schoolers to serve during this school year. We're looking for students with the following 4 qualifications:

  • Following Christ
  • Living with integrity
  • Serving with humility
  • Respected by peers and parents
I will meet every other month with the SLT. During that time we will focus on leadership development and they will have a loud voice to help provide direction for the youth ministry. They will help make decisions and serve as leaders for their peers in our discipleship environments. If your child would like to apply, they can do so online here
